Show them
- Lifejackets — fit, adjust, light & crotch strap
- Harness & where to clip on (jackstays)
- Liferaft & grab-bag location
- Flares — where, and which is which
- Fire extinguishers & fire blanket
- Bilge pumps & how to work them
- Seacocks & soft-wood bungs
- First-aid kit & any crew medical needs
Tell them
- MOB — shout, point, throw, press the GPS MOB
- How to send a Mayday on Ch 16 / DSC
- One hand for the boat; clip on at night / in weather
- Be sick to leeward — and stay clipped on
- Gas / stove discipline
- Heads — how it works, what not to flush
